If an injury occurs, see an Optometrist as soon as possible or go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital.

The full extent of the damage is not always apparent and even a seemingly minor injury may cause permanent eye and vision damage if it is not treated immediately.

How to handle an eye emergency

  1. Do not rub the eye
  1. In the case of cuts, punctures or embedded objects do not wash the eye or try to remove objects
  1. In the event of chemical burns or dust in the eye, flush copiously with cold water (from a hose, an eye bath or a shower) for at least 15 minutes
